Since June 2022, the Shiv Sena-BJP (Mahayuti) government led by Eknath Shinde has taken numerous significant and public-welfare-oriented decisions in Maharashtra. Some of the key and impactful initiatives undertaken during his tenure are listed below:
Titles & Achievements
**Major Titles and Honors**
**Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.):**
He was conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by D.Y. Patil University in 2023.
**Mahadji Shinde National Pride Award:**
He was bestowed with this prestigious award in Delhi in February 2025.
**Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year:**
He has also been honored with the ‘Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year 2020’ award for his outstanding work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
**Chief Leader:**
Following the split within the Shiv Sena in February 2023, he was officially elected as the party’s ‘Chief Leader.’
**1. Major Public Welfare Schemes**
The Shinde government has launched several new schemes catering to various sections of society:
*Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana:*
Financial assistance of ₹2,100 per month is provided to economically empower women.
**Mukhyamantri Ladla Bhai Yojana:**
Launched for unemployed youth, this scheme provides a monthly stipend of ₹6,000 to those who have passed the 12th grade, ₹8,000 to diploma holders, and ₹10,000 to graduates.
**Anandacha Shidha:**
On the occasions of Diwali and other festivals, food kits (containing oil, sugar, pulses, etc.) are made available to ration card holders at subsidized rates.
- Infrastructure and Transport
Claiming to work at “bullet speed” in the infrastructure sector, the government has completed or advanced several major projects:
Samruddhi Mahamarg:
The first two phases of this 701-km-long expressway, connecting Mumbai and Nagpur, were inaugurated, thereby boosting connectivity and trade within the state.
Atal Setu (MTHL):
Construction of India’s longest sea bridge was completed and opened to the public, significantly reducing the travel distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Expansion of Metro Network:
Work on various metro lines in Mumbai and Pune was accelerated, and several new routes were launched.
Coastal Road and Others:
Priority was accorded to the Coastal Road project and road concreting works in Mumbai.
